One Caffeine Queen's Blog

For all the cafe hounds roaming Boulder, Colorado…

Are you a Coffee Enthusiast? If so, then Fridays at Ozo Coffee are a great place to be… July 16, 2010

If you are hungry for new coffees and espresso roasts to sample, then Friday is a sensory experience at Ozo Coffee in Boulder (located at 5340 Arapahoe Avenue). It’s a chance to taste and sample the amazing coffee bean with pros, caffeine purveyors and the coffee-curious. In other words, it’s a little slice of heaven for coffee-lovers of all kinds.
*
Here’s what you can expect to find at Ozo:

Espresso Tasting:
The coffee shop offers a new espresso to try out every Friday. If you already love Ozo’s 2012 Espresso Blend, don’t panic. The 2012 is still available, but you can get an experimental roast if you like! Why does Ozo do this? They want to showcase that many roasts can be used as an espresso.
*

Granted not every coffee roast is balanced or “traditional” in its flavors for espresso, but different types of coffee and different roasts of those coffees offer a surprising array of flavors. That equals a lot of options and a unique tasting experience every time. The espresso style of extraction will allow you to explore the potential in most beans to produce a good cup of espresso or your favorite milky espresso mix (latte, cap, mocha) as each bean’s unique characteristics are pulled out and highlighted for your eager taste buds.
*

Normal Espressos offered at Ozo (Saturday through Thursday):
Espresso Isabelle – a Sumatra and Guatemala blend that is of the darker persuasion but not an over cooked version of an espresso roast.

Espresso 2012 – a Peru, Brazil, Guatemala and Mexico blend that is lighter with a fuller acidity.

Cupping of Coffees:
Want to experience a sampler (also known as cupping) of coffees? Come down to Ozo’s roasting warehouse (caddy corner to Ozo in the same shopping center) at 2 pm on Fridays. They sample out some of their coffees as well as donated beans and samples they have been given by other roasters and coffee enthusiasts. It’s truly a great chance for the coffee-curious and coffee connoisseurs to mingle, cup and taste in a fun environment.

This event is FREE to the public.
